The City of Lake City has made a generous donation to Stewart Memorial Community Hospital’s (SMCH) Putting People First renovation and expansion. The $50,000 pledge brings the organization closer to the fundraising goal of $2.25 million for the $31 million project. The remaining $29 million will come through a low-interest United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) loan. In their continuing efforts of providing nearly 60 years of quality healthcare at the hospital and clinics, this project will create improved environments with a state-of-the-art emergency department and outpatient service areas, increased patient privacy and enlarged spaces.
