Carroll Man Sentenced To Up To 10 Years In Prison On Drug Trafficking Charge

A Carroll man was sentenced to up to 10 years in prison Monday after pleading guilty to felony drug trafficking in District Court for Carroll County. According to court records, 53-year-old Dean Martin Loew pled guilty to one count of delivery of methamphetamine, five grams or less, a class C felony, after reaching an agreement with prosecutors. An affidavit from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office says Loew entered into an agreement with an individual in the 800 block of North East Street to deliver methamphetamine on July 23, 2019. In addition to the up to 10-year prison sentence, Loew was also ordered to pay more than $1,150 in fines, surcharges and court costs. This is not Loew’s first drug trafficking conviction. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison in 2014 after pleading guilty to delivery of methamphetamine, a class B felony, and two counts of delivery of marijuana, a class C felony, in District Court for Carroll County. According to the Iowa Department of Corrections, he was paroled in October of 2017.
