Charges are pending against the driver in a single-vehicle accident on Friday night. The Carroll Police Department responded to the 700 block of West 4th Street at approximately 11:25 p.m. after reports of a vehicle traveling through several yards and striking a pole. The initial investigation revealed 25-year-old Matthew Pottroff of Glidden was traveling on U.S. Highway 71 in a 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix when he struck a rock pile at H & H Sports. Pottroff continued traveling north through several yards, striking the pole and then crossing the roadway, coming to rest in the yard at 724 West 4th St. Pottroff was transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital by Carroll County Emergency Medical Services for treatment of unknown injuries. Operating while intoxicated and multiple traffic charges are pending the completion of an investigation.
