A Sac City woman faces several charges following multiple thefts in Storm Lake over the weekend. The Storm Lake Police Department was called to the 1700 block of Violet Lane at approximately 7 p.m. Friday on the report of a suspicious person. The officers were unable to locate the individual, but items believed to be stolen were located. On Sunday, July 26, at approximately 7 p.m. they received a call from a local Dynos convenience store for the theft of alcohol. The suspect, 31-year-old Jessica Strang Thornton, was located and taken into custody without incident. After further investigation, authorities allege Thornton was the suspicious person from the previous call and that at approximately 6 p.m. Friday she had entered a different building in Storm Lake without permission and taken items that were eventually discarded on Violet Lane. Thornton was charged with third-degree burglary, a class D felony, and fifth-degree theft, a simple misdemeanor.
