The fairgrounds in Sac City are bustling as the Sac County Fair is scheduled to officially begin tomorrow (Tuesday) evening. Opening ceremonies will be held at 5:45 p.m. in front of the grandstand followed by the crowning of the Sac County Fair Little Miss and Mister at 6 p.m., the 2020 Fair Queen at 6:30 p.m. and a live hypnotist performance at 7:30 p.m. The bulk of fair activities are static and live exhibit judging, and Sac County Fair Board President, Matt Naberhaus, says that process has already gotten underway. The first Sac County Fair was hosted in 1870 and is celebrating its sesquicentennial this year. Naberhaus says they hope to make this fair a very special one with a full lineup of live performances, shows and other entertainment scheduled for each night.
He adds they will have a full carnival at this year’s fair with three roaming entertainers throughout the fairgrounds. As of this (Monday) afternoon, Sac County stands at 76 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 63 of which are classified as recovered. Naberhaus says safety for fairgoers is their top priority and have implemented a number of mitigation measures to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.
He adds they strongly encourage attendees to socially distance while at the fair and to wear a mask whenever that is not possible. The Sac County Fair runs from Tuesday, July 28 through Saturday, Aug. 1. A link to the full 2020 fair schedule and fair book can be found included below.
