A Sac County inmate managed to escape from custody on Friday, only to be apprehended minutes later by a Sheriff’s deputy. Sac County Sheriff, Ken McClure, reports 28-year-old Dylan Lee Pedersen of Lake City was originally booked into the jail on July 23 for a third-degree domestic abuse charge in Calhoun County. Video surveillance showed Pedersen kicking a fire exit door at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 24, but as responding deputies were traveling to the courthouse to assist jail staff, Pedersen was able to break open the door. He traveled down a back stairway to the kitchen area, climbing out of a window there. He was apprehended about three blocks south of the courthouse without further incident. Pedersen is now facing additional charges of escape from custody, a class D felony, and criminal mischief, a serious misdemeanor.
