Arnold “Arnie” Heide of Carroll

Arnold “Arnie” William Heide, age 77, of Carroll passed away on Friday, August 7, 2020 at his home in Carroll surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church in Carroll with Rev. Terry Plocher officiating.  Casket bearers will be Adam Heide, Kyle Christensen, Nick Prokop, Ron Rothe, Dave Rothe, and Roger Rothe.  Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Carroll for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.  Masks are required at the church and those in attendance are asked to abide by Covid–19 social distancing guidelines.

Arnie was born on December 30, 1942 in Denison, IA, and was the son of Axel and Loretta (Roth) Heide.  He grew up in Carroll and graduated Kuemper High School in 1960.  Following high school he lived in California for two years and then moved to Omaha where he worked for Union Pacific Rail Road in the machine shop.  He was married to Sharon Liechti on September 29, 1963 at the United Church of Christ in Lake View.  The couple made their home in Omaha until moving to Carroll in 1977 where he worked for Farmland Foods and then Continental Can out of Omaha.  He later supervised the maintenance departments at Regency Park Nursing and then at the Carroll Health Center Nursing Home.  In retirement, Arnie worked part time at the Carroll Hy-Vee Store in maintenance.  He enjoyed fishing, restoring old cars and pickups, playing cards and spending time with his family.
Arnie is survived by his wife Sharon of Carroll; son Stephen Heide (Michelle) of South Sioux City, NE, daughter Lesli Pool (David) of Yutan, NE, and son Jeffrey Heide of Sioux Center, IA; 10 grandchildren: Heather Christensen (Kyle), Ashleigh Wiltgen (Cody), Chelsie Prokop (Nick), Danielle Lantinga (Sam), Jeffrey Heide Jr.,  Adam Heide, Shaylee Heide, Sophie Heide, Tobias Heide and Skylar Heide; two great-grandchildren: Aubin and Wyatt; his brother Marvin Heide of Duluth, MN; his sister Sharon Ann Sturges of Carroll; and other extended family members and friends.
Arnie was preceded in death by his parents Axel and Loretta Heide; and his mother and father-in-law Albert and Vergil Liechti; a sister-in-law Margaret Heide; and a brother-in-law John Sturges.
