Two Arrested On Illinois Warrants After One Subject Leads Authorities On Foot Chase Tuesday

Several area agencies teamed up Tuesday to locate and apprehend two subjects wanted on Illinois warrants. Carroll Police Chief, Brad Burke, says they were notified by Illinois authorities that the subjects were living in the 500 block of E. 18th Street. Upon verification, officers were able to locate one, 26-year-old Raynard Mecer Williams, outside the residence, but while speaking with him, he ran southbound through several yards. A nearby resident called 911 to report a suspicious person who fit Williams’ description and he was apprehended and taken into custody in the 1000 block of N. Clark Street. He is currently being held in the Carroll County jail on the warrant for failure to appear on charges of aggravated battery of a child, awaiting extradition to Illinois. The other subject, a female, 25-year-old Lameka Monea Wheat, was also arrested on an Illinois warrant for aggravated battery of a child and is jailed awaiting extradition. The Carroll County Drone Team, Carroll PD K-9 unit, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and Carroll County Emergency Medical Services assisted.
