The Carroll Public Works Department has announced that a section of Grant Road will be closed on Wednesday for work on a railroad crossing as part of the city’s 2020 resurfacing project. The closure, from 3rd Street to the Union Pacific Railroad tracks will begin at approximately 7 a.m. and is anticipated to last until about 5 p.m. Wednesday. Workers will be removing the current track approach and replacing it with hot mix asphalt.
In addition to the planned closure of Grant Road south of the Union Pacific Railroad on Wednesday, the contractor on the Street Resurfacing project advised at 1:00 PM today that Grant Road is now closed at the Middle Raccoon River bridge. Clark Street at Grant Road will also be closed by the end of the day today. Both of the closures today are for full-depth pavement removal and replacement near the north end of the of the Middle Raccoon River bridge and the Clark Street-Grant Road intersection in preparation of street resurfacing. These two latest closures are anticipated to extend through the end of the week. Anyone with questions can call the department at 792-1000.
