The Ida County Sheriff’s Office reports a New Jersey man was arrested early Sunday morning after more than 300 grams of narcotics were located in his vehicle during a traffic stop. At approximately 4:01 a.m., a deputy witnessed a vehicle driven by 63-year-old Clarence Alexander of Waterford Works, N.J. speeding on U.S. Highway 20 near the intersection with Alpine Avenue and conducted a traffic stop. A search of Alexander’s vehicle found 245 one-gram marijuana edibles, 66 grams of marijuana, more than 100 Xanax tablets, which are schedule IV-controlled substance in Iowa, and $1,381 in cash. Alexander was taken into custody and transported to the Ida County jail on charges of controlled substance violations, failure to affix a drug tax stamp and prohibited acts, class D felonies, possession of a controlled substance, a serious misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor. As of Monday afternoon, Alexander remains in custody on a $14,300 bond.
