Opportunity Living in Lake City is entering the final stage of their campaign to raise just over $200,000 for repairs to the facility’s therapeutic pool. Opportunity Living is a 501(c)3 organization that provides residential and community-based services to disabled individuals in the region. According to Development Director, Jane Wilhelm, their indoor pool plays a big part in helping them fulfill their mission.
Opportunity Living’s indoor pool also benefits the community through water aerobic classes, lifeguard training, swimming lessons, physical therapy and much more. Wilhelm says they want to keep these services available to the public, but some substantial repairs are needed if the pool is to remain open.
As of Monday, $140,000 of the $206,000 needed has been raised. Unfortunately, Opportunity Living’s largest annual fundraiser, the Easter Egg-Stravaganza, had to be cancelled this year due to COVID-19. Wilhelm says they are hoping to make up for that missed event with some help from local residents and businesses. She says donating is quick and easy.
More information on how to donate can be found included below this story. Wilhelm says pool repairs are already underway and are optimistic they will reach their goal by the end of the year. Opportunity Living has a fundraising banquet planned for November, and Carroll Broadcasting will bring you more information on that as details are finalized.
