The Jefferson Police Department has opened an investigation into a series of recent burglaries in the area. At approximately 4:22 p.m. Monday, a resident reported his tool trailer in the 400 block of North Cedar Street had been broken into and numerous items had been taken. At approximately 11:26 p.m. Monday evening, another individual contacted law enforcement regarding a suspicious male individual in the area around the Sloan Plumbing building in the 200 block of South Cedar Street. Law enforcement was unable to locate the man but did find a vehicle connected to the individual. An investigation into the unidentified individual and his connection to other burglaries reported in Jefferson is underway.
