Two vehicles were disabled in an accident at U.S. Highway 71 and 18th Street in Carroll Monday evening. The Carroll Police Department responded to the scene at approximately 5:16 p.m. A 2019 GMC Acadia, driven by 71-year-old Mary Hermsen of Breda, was northbound on 71. At that same time, 16-year-old Ryan Rustvold of Carroll was westbound on 18th in a 1994 Buick Skylark. Rustvold failed to yield and struck the Hermsen vehicle on the passenger side. Rustvold was cited for failure to obey a stop sign.
