CCSD Announces A Student Has Tested Positive For COVID-19

The Carroll Community School District announced today (Friday) that a student at Carroll High School has tested positive for COVID-19. In a written statement, Superintendent, Dr. Casey Berlau, says, “The District has been working closely with local public health officials to assist with any contact tracing. Any individuals who have been identified as having ‘close contact’ with the individual who tested positive will receive a separate communication regarding necessary procedures.” Berlau stresses that only individuals with confirmed contact, which the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) defines as being within six feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes up to two days prior to the onset of symptoms or positive test, will be notified. The district is encouraging parents and guardians to continue monitoring their child’s health and to remain home if they display any symptoms associated with COVID-19, such as fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing or loss of taste or smell. Three other students also tested positive but have not been in school yet this year. For additional information, contact the high school office at 792-8010 or district office at 792-8001.
