Special elections are taking place next Tuesday, Sept. 8 in several surrounding counties. Voters who pay taxes within the city of Carroll are being asked two questions, the first, Public Measure C, is to authorize a one percent sales and service tax from Jan. 1, 2024 until a call for repeal. About $7.6 million of those proceeds will be used to pay for a portion of the proposed $13.38 million renovations and additions to the Carroll Rec Center. The other question on the ballot, Public Measure D, is asking Carroll property owners to approve the issuance of General Obligation bonds not to exceed $5.9 million to fund the remainder of the project. There is a single polling location in Carroll, at the First United Methodist Church. Voters in Carroll County residing within the IKM-Manning Community School District will vote on a bond measure not to exceed $19.2 million for expansion and renovation at the Manning school. That polling location will be the Sacred Heart Church Hall in Manning. Voters in Shelby, Audubon and Crawford Counties will also be weighing in on the IKM-Manning referendum with the Shelby and Audubon County polls at the Irwin Community Building and Crawford County school district voters will cast their ballots at the Manilla Fire Station. Voters in the East Sac County School District are being asked to approve a Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL). This measure is to aid in updates and renovations as the district moves from four to two sites. The 10-year PPEL ask is not to exceed $1 for every $1,000 in assessed taxable value. Voters will be able to cast their ballots at one of two locations, the 4-H Building at the Sac County Fairgrounds or at the Lake View American Legion Hall. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Carroll Broadcasting will bring you results from the county auditors once polls close. Addresses for all polling locations can be found below.
