A Rockwell City Teen and Lake View Man Were Injured In A Two-Vehicle Accident Friday

Six people were injured in a two-vehicle accident in Pocahontas County Friday. The Iowa State Patrol reports they responded to the scene on Highways 3 and 15 east of Pocahontas at approximately 6:05 p.m. The initial investigation revealed that 17-year-old Adrian Kannard of Rockwell City was eastbound on Highway 3 in a 2013 Dodge Dart and making a northbound turn onto Highway 15. Sixty-five-year-old Thomas Hemmingsen of Newell was westbound on Highway 3 in a 2015 Ford F-250 and struck the Kannard vehicle in the westbound lane of traffic. Three passengers were airlifted to Des Moines for treatment of serious injuries. Fifteen-year-old Brittany Niehaus and 16-year-old Ethan Hinners, both of Fonda, were airlifted to Blank Children’s Hospital and 65-year-old Patricia Bartholomew of Boone was airlifted to Iowa Methodist Hospital. Kannard was transported to the Spencer Hospital by Pocahontas County Emergency Medical Services and Hemmingsen and another passenger, 64-year-old Michael McNace of Lake View were taken to Humboldt County Memorial Hospital by Humboldt County Emergency Medical Services.
