Area Schools Announce Plans To Offer Free Meals To All Students Through USDA Food Service Program

The East Sac County (ESC) Community School District has announced they will be offering free breakfast and lunch to all students beginning tomorrow (Friday). The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has extended its Summer Food Service program tentatively through the end of the year. As a result, ESC will be utilizing the funds made available through the program to provide one free lunch and one free breakfast to all students, including those enrolled in online-only education. In-person students will receive their meals at the building where they attend. However, families of remote-learning or quarantined students will need to contact the building where they will be picking up the meals by 3 p.m. the day prior. Pickup will be at 11 a.m. each day school is scheduled at the building requested. Free student meals will continue for as long as funding remains available. For more information or to arrange a pickup, use the contact information provided with this story on our website. As of Thursday, the Audubon and Glidden-Ralston Community School Districts have also announced they will be participating in the USDA program.
