The Carroll Police Department reports a man was transported for treatment Thursday night after accidentally shooting himself in the leg. According to law enforcement, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of East 10th Street in response to reports of an individual with a gunshot wound. Based on their initial investigation, authorities say the man had been handling a .40-caliber handgun and accidentally discharged it into his upper thigh. The man was transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital by Carroll County Emergency Medical Services for treatment of the non-life-threatening gunshot wound. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
