The Carroll Police Department has released the name of a man injured in the accidental discharge of a handgun on Thursday night. Chief, Brad Burke, says 49-year-old William O’Connor of Carroll was found to have a gunshot wound to his left leg when officers arrived at the residence at 218 E. 10th St. Law enforcement was called to the scene at approximately 6:43 p.m. on the reports of shots fired. The initial investigation determined O’Connor was manipulating a .40 caliber handgun when it accidentally discharged into his left thigh area. O’Connor was transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital by Carroll County Emergency Medical Services for treatment of the non-life threatening injury. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
