The Carroll City Council meeting on Monday evening includes a liquor license request for the reopening of a business. City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver, says it is a bit of good news for the community as Denny’s Bar & Grill will be opening with a new owner. This is part of the consent agenda to start the meeting that also includes an amendment to the Community Attraction and Tourism Grant for the Carroll Public Library as well as certification of compliance for the 2019 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). The board will receive a report of the results of the bids recently received for phase 10 of the Downtown Streetscape. According to Pogge-Weaver, they were pleased to have these come in under the estimate of $1,347,069.78. Pogge-Weaver says the council will also be deciding on dates for two public hearings that are tied together. The first is for an amendment to the Westfield urban renewal plan
The second is to enter into a development agreement with Breda Telephone Company, Inc., (BTC) who is doing business as Western Iowa Networks (WIN) and constructing their new building in that development on the west side of Carroll.
Pogge-Weaver adds there was similar work done with a private developer when the Walmart building was constructed.
The meeting on Monday, Sept. 14 will begin at 5:15 p.m. and the public is invited to join by digital means or to watch live on their local access cable channel. Details on how to join along with the agenda and packet of materials for the meeting can be found by following the link included below.
