Iowa’s Republican women will be coming together this Saturday, Sept. 19, in Jefferson to hear from all four congressional candidates. The Iowa Federation of Republican Women’s (IowaFRW) fall conference at Wild Rose Casino and Resort will be live and presented digitally from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Those speakers are: Iowa Senator and 4th District candidate, Randy Feenstra; Iowa Representative and 1st Congressional District candidate, Ashley Hinson; former U.S. Representative running for the 3rd Congressional District seat, David Young; and Iowa Senator, Mariannette Miller-Meeks who is on the ballot for the U.S. House District 2 seat. President of the Federation, Barbara Hames-Bryant, says she and the candidates want people to know they are standing with them during this difficult time, but the misinformation in the media—from both sides—is heartbreaking. That is why this conference, she says, is the place to get to the heart of the issues and the answers to their questions.
Other special guests are included on the agenda.
These candidates are going to be in a room full of friendly faces, Hames-Bryant says, and she is asking them to talk openly. She wants them to share details on their campaigns—how they are doing, how their opposition is doing, what kind of out-of-state money is coming in and what kind of help they still need. She adds she is looking for an update on a national scale from Senator Ernst.
Hames-Bryant says despite the pandemic, how many storms come through Iowa, if the fires in the west are still burning or we have more hurricanes in the south and east, this election WILL take place on Nov. 3. Her hope is that every Republican can wake up on Nov. 4 being able to say they did everything they could to be well-informed and to support their candidate of choice. All Republicans are welcome to attend Saturday’s IowaFRW conference, but pre-registration is required. This can be done at www.iowafrw.org. There is a $35 charge for attending in person, and the fee can be paid at the door. The cost to attend via Zoom or telephone is $10. Hames-Bryant says after the conference, they will be holding a strike-force initiative for the weekend beginning Friday, Oct. 2. They will have volunteers from Iowa and across the country making phone calls and working out of the campaign headquarters in Polk, Linn and Scott Counties. Hames-Bryant is in her first term as President of the IowaFRW but has been involved in the organization for about 16 years. She lives in Cedar Rapids with her husband, Dan, and they have two adult children. She is President and owner of her family’s manufactured home business.
