Woman Arrested After Leading Carroll Authorities On Chase Topping 100 MPH Wednesday Morning

An Illinois woman has been taken into custody following a high-speed chase through Carroll and into Greene County early Wednesday morning. A deputy with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a vehicle at U.S. Highway 30 and Ivy Avenue, west of Carroll, shortly after 4 a.m. The driver, 55-year-old Linda Lee Diebold, fled and the deputy pursued, reaching speeds up to 120 miles per hour. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office deployed spike strips at Highway 30 and J Avenue, west of Jefferson, which ended the chase. Diebold was arrested and transported to the Carroll County jail. She has been charged with eluding and operating while under the influence. The Carroll and Jefferson Police Departments assisted in the incident.
