Two Men Face Felony Drug Charges After Thursday Pursuit In Jefferson

Two men were taken into custody on felony charges Thursday afternoon following a brief vehicle pursuit in Jefferson. At approximately 4:26 p.m., an officer with the Jefferson Police Department spotted an individual with a suspended license driving eastbound on U.S. Highway 30 near the intersection with M Avenue. The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the vehicle refused to yield. As the pursuit continued eastbound, law enforcement observed a backpack thrown from the vehicle land in the south ditch. The driver then turned south onto Grimmell Road and stopped. The occupants of the vehicle, 22-year-old Dalton Lee Weber and 20-year-old Nicholas Scott Weber, both of Jefferson, were detained while authorities retrieved the discarded bag. A probable cause search was conducted, revealing several containers of marijuana and measuring scales. Both men were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and failure to affix a drug tax stamp, class D felonies. Nicholas Weber is also charged with obstructing prosecution, an aggravated misdemeanor. The men will face enhanced penalties due to the incident occurring with 1000 feet of the Greene County High School. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
