Kenneth Lee Johnston of Lanesboro

Kenneth Lee Johnston, age 76, of Lanesboro, IA, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2020 due to injuries suffered in an auto accident.
A private funeral service will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Rev. John Hembry officiating. Casket bearers will be Larry Johnston, Steve Streeter, Josh DeSart, Tony McCoy, Jim Miller, and Charlie Johnston. Honorary casket bearers will be Honor Miller, Lauren Johnston, Amanda Miller, Jack Johnston, Dennis Johnston, Vernon Main, Mike Heuton, Ronnie Heuton, Wendall Heuton, Sherry Miller, David Cleland, Katheryn Winslow, James Heuton, and Phill Bushman. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden.

Kenny was born on December 25, 1943 in Des Moines, IA, he was the son of Charles and Leefa (Danielson) Johnston. He grew up in Des Moines and graduated from Johnston High School. Following high school, he enlisted into the Marine Corps. After the Marines, he worked as an electrician’s apprentice. He worked as an electrician for Iowa Methodist Hospital for fifteen years and then became Superintendent of Maintenance for Webster County. He was married to Elaine Heuton on August 21, 1971 in Des Moines. The couple lived in Des Moines and the Fort Dodge area before moving to Lanesboro in 2000. Kenny enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, cooking, riding his motorcycle, spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren and was well known for his strong work ethic as well as his sense of humor.
Kenny is survived by his wife Elaine of Lanesboro; his children and their families: son Larry Johnston (Danelle) of Texas, son Jack Johnston of Arizona, daughter Suzi Miller of Florida, and son Dennis Johnston (Nicole) of Arizona; two granddaughters: Amanda Miller and Lauren Johnston; a great-grandson Honor Miller; and several other extended family members and many good friends.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, siblings and three grandchildren: Adam Jarnagin, Michael and Brandon Johnston.
