Authorities From Three Agencies Attempt To Capture Wanted Man In Jefferson Wednesday

Officers from the Jefferson Police Department along with deputies from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and troopers from the Iowa State Patrol attempted to apprehend a wanted subject at a Jefferson residence Wednesday afternoon. Law enforcement surrounded the house in the 700 block of West Sunset at approximately 2:30 p.m. after receiving a tip that the wanted male was inside. The homeowner confirmed to authorities he was on the premises and was in the basement. Attempts were made to coax the suspect out of the basement, and a K-9 unit was eventually deployed, but the man was gone. A short time later, authorities were notified the male was in the east tree line at the yard waste site in Daubendiek Park. A drone was launched while officers searched on foot in the heavily wooded area, but the subject was not located.
