Another major step was completed this (Monday) morning at the future site of the Miracle Field in Carroll’s Northeast Park. Crews got to work at 7 a.m. pouring hundreds of cubic yards of concrete for the field’s foundation. According to Pat Tigges, one of the driving forces behind the project, the concrete will be allowed to cure for about a month before workers return to apply the rubber surfacing that will allow individuals of all abilities to play ball. The area has been taped off, and residents are asked to avoid walking on the freshly poured concrete for at least 48 hours. Tigges expects the field will be ready for games by next fall with dugouts, fencing and a scoreboard added sometime during the spring and summer construction seasons. More walkways and parking, a concession stand and handicap-accessible restrooms are also planned at the site. Photos of the work in progress can be found included with this story on our website.
