Ethel Tiefenthaler, age 95 of Breda, died Monday, September 28, 2020 at Sunnybrook of Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday October 3, 2020 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Breda. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Friedrichsen. Music will be by Marilyn Hundling and Robert Tiefenthaler. Lectors will be Austin Tiefenthaler and Chloe Allman. Casket bearers will be Robert Tiefenthaler, Brent Tiefenthaler, Sherri Allman, Ryan Tiefenthaler, Laura Sigmon, Sarah Riesberg, and Austin Tiefenthaler. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
There will be no public visitation prior to the mass on Saturday morning. Those in attendance will be required to wear a face covering and abide by COVID-19 restrictions.

Ethel, the daughter of Joseph and Clara (Wegmann) Heinrichs was born on October 28, 1924 in Carroll County Iowa. She grew up near Breda and attended country school.
On May 28, 1941 she was united in marriage to Cyril Tiefenthaler at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Breda. The couple made their home near Breda where they engaged in farming. In addition to the farming operation, Ethel was a devoted homemaker. She enjoyed baking and sewing, making many of the dresses she wore. Her and Cyril enjoyed playing cards and attending dances at the Lakewood Ballroom on Saturday Nights. Most of all Ethel enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
Left to celebrate Ethel’s life are her sons: Dean Tiefenthaler and his wife Deb of Lake View, Dale Tiefenthaler and his wife Jean of Breda, and Dan Tiefenthaler and his wife Theresa of Breda. Her grandchildren: Robert (Brenda) Tiefenthaler of Sioux City, Sherri (Chris) Allman of Breda, Kenzie (Mike) Harder of Norwalk, Jesse (Shalyn) Woerdehoff of Adel, Ryan (Molly) Woerdehoff of Breda, Alison (Brad) Schmitz of Spirit Lake, Chris (Christina) Woerdehoff of Lake View, Lori (Robbie) Tiefenthaler of Trophy Plug TX, Brent (Cindy) Tiefenthaler of Breda, Ryan (Tarin) Tiefenthaler of Carroll, Laura (Cody) Sigmon of Auburn, Sarah (Jeff) Riesberg of Breda, and Austin (Katelynn) Tiefenthaler of Breda; 25 greatgrandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
Ethel was preceded in death by her husband Cyril, a son, Daryl Tiefenthaler, a daughter-in-law Bonnie Tiefenthaler; her parents, Joseph and Clara Heinrichs; her sister Irene (Irwin) Galloway; her sisters-inlaw: Mayme Meyer, Christina Pittman; and her brothers-in-law: Louis, John, Alfred, William, Frank, Arthur, and Ray Tiefenthaler.
