Carroll Man Charged With Assault For Allegedly Threatening Others Last Weekend

A Carroll man was taken into custody last weekend after allegedly threatening violence against a group of people. According to Carroll County District Court records, the Carroll Police Department was dispatched at approximately 6:49 p.m. on Saturday night to a home in the 500 block of West 2nd Street on a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, authorities spoke with the reporting party and other witnesses, who claimed 19-year-old Dalton Lee Andrew Maples had threatened to retrieve a firearm from a neighboring house and harm them. Maples was not at the home when officers arrived. However, he was located later attempting to hide in a neighbor’s basement. Officers attempted to have Maples come to the door so they could speak about the incident, but he refused. Due to the possibility of the subject having a firearm, authorities forced their way into the basement and took Maples into custody. He was transported to the Carroll County jail and charged with assault, a simple misdemeanor.
