Kuemper seniors interested in attending Creighton University are now eligible to apply for a new scholarship opportunity. The Kuemper Catholic School System has announced the Grit Scholarship, funded by the Heider Foundation of Omaha, Neb., which ranges from $30,000 to a full-ride scholarship at Creighton. Four Catholic High Schools in Omaha are partners with Creighton in awarding the scholarship and now Kuemper is the fifth partner. The Grit Scholarship recognizes students who have a high aptitude for success, but whose talents are not evident through standard academic metrics. Eligibility requirements are: the student is a graduate of one of the five partner schools; they have completed an application for admission to Creighton University by Dec. 1 of their senior year in high school; and have completed a Grit Scholarship application by Jan. 5 of their senior year. Kuemper President, John Steffes, says they are grateful to the Heiders for this generous gift. “We are proud to be in partnership with Creighton and the Heider Foundation in making available a faith-based Catholic education for more of our graduates for their college years,” Steffes says. “More Kuemper graduates can now seriously include Creighton University as a feasible goal to attain that wasn’t possible in the past.”
