MRHC Continues To Support Breast Cancer Awareness, But Expands Women’s Health Initiatives Through October

During the month of October, Manning Regional Healthcare Center (MRHC) is shifting focus, slightly, in a Women Supporting Women initiative that includes breast cancer awareness, but also tends to the physical, mental, social, nutritional and spiritual health of women. Director of Quality, Patient Advocacy and Risk Management, RN, Jackie Blackwell, says they have made some modifications this year. “But we look forward to bringing back one of the most rewarding events we’ve held, the “I’m a Survivor,” floral bouquets.” Anyone can nominate a local cancer survivor to receive a flower arrangement or a candy bouquet. Five survivors will be chosen each week to receive the arrangement, donated by Kristina’s Flowers. Those residing within a 20-mile radius of Manning will get a surprise delivery to their door on Mondays throughout October. Contact information on how to submit nominations can be found below. Individuals, businesses and local organizations can also become sponsors at a cost of $40 per bouquet. Last year, Blackwell says they were hoping to have 10 honorees, but the initiative was so popular that 26 survivors were presented with arrangements. MRHC is also hosting several Women Supporting Women webinars, promoting motivated workouts and encouraging self-care in maintaining regular doctor visits, exams and tests. More details on those are also included here.
