There is still time to register for a free “Careers 4 Women in Technology, virtual event taking place on Tuesday, Oct. 13. Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) and Microsoft have partnered in developing the presentation that will inspire and inform those women interested in pursuing a career in technology. “The percent of women in the U.S. workforce has climbed to nearly 50 percent in past decades, but the percentage of women working in the tech sector has remained significantly lower,” says DMACC Pathway Navigator, Silas Hanneman. “DMACC is excited to continue to grow its partnership with Microsoft, as well as our relationships with many other technology companies throughout Iowa and beyond, to help encourage more talented young women to pursue rewarding and in-demand careers in technology.” A panel of five women who have built careers in technology will share their experiences, outlining the skills and training needed as well as the obstacles they have faced and overcome along their career paths. Registration for the 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. free event on Tuesday, Oct. 13 must be completed by Friday, Oct. 9. A link to register can be found below.
