Carroll County COVID-19 positive cases jumped by double digit numbers every day last Monday through Friday. The week started with a reported increase of 21 on Monday. This was followed by 22, 29, 16 and 31 on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday respectively. As of 8 a.m. Monday, Carroll County is reporting 1,146 positive cases with 679 listed as recovered and 12 deaths for 455 active cases. The two-week positivity rate, however, has dropped, down to 18.7 percent, placing the county 10th in the state. In the area: Audubon County is at a 7.2 percent positivity rate with 142 positives, 84 recovered and one death; Calhoun has a 10.6 percent rate with 307 positive cases, 238 recovered and four deaths; Crawford County sits at 14.5 percent with 1,355 positives, 1,085 recovered and 14 deaths; Greene County is the only in the region that has not reported any coronavirus-related deaths, they have a 7.3 percent positivity rate with 186 cases and 107 recovered; Guthrie is at 10.8 percent, 391 positives, 245 recovered and 15 deaths; and Sac County is at 10.1 percent with 398 cases, 262 recovered and four deaths. As of Monday morning, Iowa is at 116,351 positive cases, 87,968 recovered and 1,635 deaths. There are three reported outbreaks in area long-term care facilities. Regency Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Carroll has 12 positive cases with zero recovered as of yet. In Denison, the Denison Care Center has 38 cases with four recovered and Eventide Lutheran Home has 22 positives with seven of those recovered.
