East Sac Vs South Hardin- Class 2A Region 4

South Hardin 3

East Sac 2

25-22, 25-19, 20-25, 14-25, 15-13

East Sac battled back from down two sets to none and trailed 16-7 in set 3 before a 14 point run gave them the momentum and helped them send the match to 5 sets where they had an early lead and had the match tied at 10 and 13 but fell just short.

Things looked really good early as the Raiders went up 6-1 to start set one but then it quickly went downhill as the Tigers tied it at 6 and took their first lead at 15-14. Every bounce of the net or break for the next nearly two sets seemed to go the Tigers way as they were all over the floor keeping balls alive and getting good swings from their sophomore Ellie Anderson. East Sac hung tough in set 1 but fell 25-22.

Set two was well played and close most of the set with 13 ties and 6 lead changes. South Hardin took their final lead at 17-16 and went on to win 25-19. East Sac was a little out of sorts on serve receive which led them to not get a lot of good swings at the net. South Hardin took advantage and had a couple runs on serve to take a 2-0 lead.

It got worse for East Sac to start the third set as they led 2-0 but quickly fell behind11-17 and then 16-7. Bree Boeckman stepped to the service line with Raiders needing some momentum and she provided it. Just like that the Raiders had a bounce in their step and Boeckman served a 14-0 run to put them ahead and in control of set 3. They started passing well and getting good looks for Bailey Wollesen and Boeckman along with Oliva Wernimont and Abby Scott.

East Sac used the momentum to dominate set 4 and cruised to a 25-14 win. They started well in set 5 and led 1-0 and 2-1 but would never lead again. They tied the match at 10 and 13 with a 3-0 run but were couldn’t catch the break to get the lead. With the set tied at 13 South Hardin got a point to go up 1 and had a nice serve and the pass pulled the Raiders into the net to end the match.  East Sac season ended with a hard fought 3-2 loss finishing their season at 23-1.

Bailey Wollesen found a gap in the defense the final three sets and finished with a team high 23 kills to go with 7 blocks and 3 aces. Bree Boeckman added 14 kills, 5 blocks and 3 aces. She had several thunderous attacks.
