Two Iowa soybean producers have been appointed to serve on the United Soybean Board by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). Tim Bardole of Rippey and Tom Oswald of Cleghorn will accept the confirmation at a hearing in December. The farmer-director board comprised of 73 individuals includes four Iowa representatives with April Hemmes of Hampton and Lindsay Greiner of Keota currently serving. “USB directors play an important role in managing checkoff dollars,” says Bardole, who completed his Iowa Soybean Association presidency in September. “Serving as ISA President helped me recognize how important representation is, especially when it comes to being a steward of these funds.” Bardole and Oswald will play critical roles in the proper implementation of the funding that supports research, market development and promotional efforts, maximizing profit opportunities for all U.S. soybean farmers.
