Jefferson Businesses Are Pulling Together To Fund K-9 Leo’s Retirement Replacement

Last month, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office announced a fundraising effort to replace their K-9, Leo, who is retiring after eight years of service. Last week, a $1,000 donation from Home State Bank moved them ever closer to their $10,000 goal. Other local businesses are joining the fundraising effort. Heartland Bank is offering to make a $100 donation for every checking account opened at the Jefferson branch during the month of November and the Jefferson Fareway is hosting a “round up” event this week. Customers will be able to round their purchase up to the nearest dollar and 100 percent of those proceeds will go toward the retirement fund. Anyone wishing to make a cash donation can do so at the Greene County Law Enforcement Center during their regular business hours or they can contact the Greene County Sheriff’s Office at 515-386-2136 for more information.
