Wilma Piritano of Carroll

Wilma Piritano, 89 of Carroll, died Sunday, November 1, 2020 at her residence in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 6, 2020 at St. John Paul II Parish – Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Schott.  Music will be by Marcy Anderson and Sherry Loughran.  Lector will be Matt Greteman.  Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Hillside, Illinois on Monday, November 9, 2020.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll.  There will be no public visitation on Friday at the church.  Those attending the visitation and the funeral mass are required to wear a face covering.

The daughter of Billie and Florence (Kettle) Walker, Wilma was born on July 30, 1931 in Vandalia, Missouri.  At a young age her family moved to Chicago where she graduated from Austin High School.  On April 25, 1953, Wilma was united in marriage to Frank Piritano in Chicago, Illinois.
Wilma received her nursing diploma from Grant Hospital where she then worked for a brief time.  Her illustrious nursing career included various nursing positions in hospitals in Chicago, California, and Hawaii where she went on to become a nursing director.  Frank and Wilma later moved to Carroll where she was an operating nurse at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll until her retirement.  In retirement, Wilma volunteered in various capacities for the hospital.
Wilma enjoyed her pet companion Bella, reading, crafts and crossword puzzles.  Wilma was a member of St. John Paul II Parish – Holy Spirit Church in Carroll and St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Naruto of Carroll; her son Michael Piritano of Carroll; her grandson, Christopher Naruto of Richmond, Virginia; and her brother, Herbert Walker of Texas.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband Frank; her parents, Billie and Florence Walker; her son, David Piritano; her sister, Dorothy Belt; and her brothers, Billy Walker and Donald Walker.
