One new death has been recorded in Sac County and the two-week COVID-19 positivity rates spiked in the area. Calhoun County moved up to second highest in the state and Carroll to 10th while all but one county in the region reports numbers below 20 percent. As of 6 a.m. Wednesday, Calhoun County is now reporting a 40.6 percent positivity rate with 914 cases, 348 recovered and six deaths. Carroll is at 28.1 percent with 1,778 cases, 1,053 recovered and 16 coronavirus-related deaths. Sac County’s death toll has risen to seven while they report a 23 percent positivity rate with 710 cases and 376 recovered. Audubon is the only county in the listening area with a rate below 20 and is the fifth lowest in the state at 13.3 percent. They have 269 cases, 135 recovered and one death. In the rest of the region: Crawford County is at 20.7 percent with 1,630 cases, 1,315 recovered and 15 deaths; Greene is at 25.9 percent with 430 positives, 182 recovered and no reported deaths; and Guthrie is at 21.9 percent with 639 positives, 362 recovered and 15 deaths. Two of the four area long-term care centers reporting outbreaks are nearly cleared. St. Anthony Regional Hospital’s nursing facility now has 10 of 13 cases recovered and the Denison Care Center is reporting 33 of 38 cases recovered. Regency Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Carroll has eight of 18 cases recovered and the Exira Care Center has one of 20 recovered.
