Storm Lake Police Association Annual Gloves Of Love Program Starts Monday

This will be the 14th year that the Storm Lake Police Association works to bring warmth in many different ways to residents over the winter months. On Monday, Nov. 30, they will kick-off the Gloves of Love Program, which will run through Dec. 16. “During this holiday season, we would encourage citizens to donate items or food to be in turn provided to those in need,” says Treasurer of the association, Lt. John Bauer. “Please consider donating so those less fortunate than ourselves may have a happy holiday. It is our hope to be able to help as many families as possible.” A Christmas tree has been placed in the lobby of the Police Administration Building where residents are asked to join them in hanging children’s gloves and other clothing items and placing non-perishable food items under the tree. At the conclusion of the drive, these will be delivered to the Upper Des Moines office to be distributed throughout the Storm Lake community. The lobby at 401 East Milwaukee Avenue is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. For additional information, call the Police Department at 712-732-8010.
