Audubon At South Central Calhoun

South Central Calhoun 62

Audubon 48

South Central Calhoun improved to 2-0 on the season while Audubon battled hard but drops their season opener on Monday. The Titans started the game with a 8-0 run and looked in very good shape as they pressure was creating turnovers and their ball movement was getting open looks in the lane and beyond the arc. Audubon wasn’t going away easy though and battled back. The Wheelers trailed by 1 point four times in the 1st half and had chances to take their first lead of the game but they struggled in the paint.

PHOTOS: Sponsored by Roselle Mutual Insurance Emma Anderson hit a bit three point shot early in the 3rd to give the Titans a 39-34 lead. Audubon had been down two before that shot and the Titans never looked back after that extending the lead to 46-34. The lead grew to as many as 19 in the 4th but Audubon closed back with 12 in the closing minutes. Riley Batta and Kylee Schleisman did most of the Titans scoring in the 1st half as Batta 14 of her 16 and Schleisman scored all 11 of her points by halftime. The Wheelers did a nice job containing those two in the 2nd half but that opened things up for Brielle Korleski who scored all 14 of her points in the 2nd half. Korleski battled foul trouble in the 1st half which limited her minutes. Emma Anderson did a nice job in both halves finding her scores and finished with a team high 6 assists. Audubon dominated the glass early but couldn’t turn a lot of those offensive rebounds into points. The Wheelers were down 18-11 after the 1st quarter but only trailed 32-29 at half. Jaci Christensen battled foul trouble most of the game but had 10 rebounds at half and Johanna Sauers added 9 boards at half. Aleah Hermansen helped settle the Wheelers in after that slow start and scored 14 of her 18 points in the 1st half. South Central Calhoun played her a little tighter in the 2nd half and Audubon struggled to get shots to fall. Batta finished with a team high 16 points to go with 6 rebounds, Korleski added 14 points, Schleisman finished with 11 points, Emma Anderson 7 points and 6 assists. Titans also received good play off the bench from Addisyn Korleski and Chloe Judisch who combined for 7 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Hermansen was the only Wheeler in double figures with 18 points but Christensen was a point shy of a double-double with 9 points and 14 rebounds. Sauers finished with 10 rebounds. Hermansen added 6 rebounds and matched Katelyn Nielsen with team high 3 assists. South Central Calhoun heads to South Hamilton on Tuesday and Audubon heads home to entertain AHSTW.
