Girls Basketball Results Thursday, December 10th

East Sac At OA-BCIG

OA-BCIG 45

East Sac 40

A slow start offensively put the Raiders down in the 1st half and then a late 9-0 run by the Falcons dropped East Sac to 1-3 on the season. The Raiders scored just 12 points in the 1st half as they tried to find a rhythm that didn’t want to be found.  They never trailed by more than 4 points in the half as the defense did just enough to keep them in striking distance. A late 3 by Bree Boeckman cut their deficit at half to 13-12.  East Sac battled foul trouble with Carly Fischer picking up 3 and Maty Quirk getting 2 in the 1st minutes of the game. Fischer and Boeckman each had 5 at half and Anna Mogensen had the other bucket. OA-BCIG wanted to pound the ball inside to Riley Schiernbeck and Addie Hickey. Those two combined for all 13 Falcon points in the 1st half.

Maty Quirk was scoreless in the 1st half but came out on fire to start the 2nd half, hitting a couple tough off-balance shots along with a 3. Her quick 9 points sparked the Raiders and they grabbed the lead at 17-15. The Falcons came into the game hitting just 16.7% from behind the arc but hit a few clutch ones in the 2nd half. After the Raiders went up 19-15 Elle Schroeder hit a pair of 3’s to tie the game at 21 before OA-BCIG went ahead again 23-21 and they lead 28-24 after three quarters.

Mary Bontrager and Meredith Brown came up with a couple big shots early in the 4th as they Raiders built a 38-31 lead. They weren’t able to close it out as the Falcons found Schiernbeck inside and then Anna Winterrowd hit a 3 to tie it at 38. The Falcons used a late 9-0 run to grab the lead at 40-38. East Sac tied the game at 40 on a pair of free throws by Brown. The Falcons worked the lead back to 43-40 and East Sac tried to set up an inbound play to get a quick two or an open 3 but missed a 3 from the right side and then a fading sideways 3 from the left side and the Falcons grabbed the rebound with a few seconds left and hit a pair of free throws to seal the deal.

Maty Quirk led the Raiders with 11 points and 3 assists. Bree Boeckman added 9 points and 12 rebounds along with 3 blocks. Meredith Brown had 7 rebounds, 4 assists and Mary Bontrager finished with 8 points.
