Carroll Man Charged With Drug Trafficking Sentenced Monday To Probation

A Carroll man charged with controlled substance violations has been sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to the felony count in October. According to court records, 50-year-old Chad Michael Hess’ sentencing hearing was held today (Monday) in Carroll County District Court. Hess was arrested on Aug. 22, 2019 by the Coon Rapids Police Department after selling over 1.5 grams of methamphetamine during a controlled buy in May of 2019. He was charged with delivery of a controlled substance—methamphetamine, a class C felony. In exchange for his guilty plea, a 10-year prison sentence was suspended, and he was instead placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Correctional Services for five years. This is Hess’ fifth drug trafficking-related conviction in Iowa since 1996.
