As we draw closer to the holidays, the prices of motor fuels at the pumps continues to creep up. As of Wednesday, AAA of Iowa reports a $.07 increase in regular unleaded gasoline over last week with an average of $2.10 across the state. However, this is still $.23 lower than this time last year. The national average on Wednesday was $2.19, up $.03 from last week. Retail diesel prices also went up, on average $.06 to $2.35 per gallon. This is $.49 lower than last year and still $.14 lower than the national average of $2.49. In heating fuels, the biggest one-week increase was in natural gas prices, up $.19 cents to $2.65 per MMbtu. Propane prices remained steady with an average of $1.12 per gallon and home heating oil moved up $.05 from last week, ending with a statewide average of $2.03 per gallon.
