Julia “Julie” Frances Rahm Greteman, of Carroll, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at St Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll. She was 97.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 22 at St. John Paul II Parish- Holy Spirit Church, in Carroll with Fr. Sunny Dominic as celebrant. Lectors for the Mass will be Michael Greteman, Thomas Leonard, and Jeff Greteman. Pianist for the mass will be Kate Cuddy. Honorary Gift Bearers will be Julie’s granddaughters. Casket bearers will be Julie’s grandsons. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
A private family visitation and Rosary will be held on Monday at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll. Public visitation without greeting the family will be held at Holy Spirit Church from 9:30 – 10:15 A.M. on Tuesday prior to the Mass.
Those in attendance at Julie’s service are asked to abide by Covid-19 guidelines and facemasks are required.

Julie was born to Edward and Genevieve Rahm in St. Benedict, Iowa, on November 24, 1923. She attended St. Benedict Grade School and Roosevelt High School (Des Moines, IA). She graduated from Drake University in 1944 with her degree in mathematics and worked in Des Moines at Equitable of Iowa Insurance Co. until 1947.
Julie married her beloved husband of 72 years, Louis B. Greteman, on August 26, 1947. In 1948, they moved to Carroll, Iowa, where she resided for the rest of her life.
A devout Catholic, Julie regularly attended daily Mass, volunteered at Holy Spirit Parish, the Legion of Mary, Catholic Daughters of America, and was a member of the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary and P.E.O. She was devoted to her family and community. She espoused the value of a quality education and ensured that each of her nine children graduated from college. She enjoyed baking, flowers, travel, bridge, and entertaining family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brothers Maurice and Clare, and her son Mark. Survivors include her children Mike (Cathy), Mary (Joel) Swanson, Jean (Tom) Farner, Jim (Mary), Nick, all of Carroll; Margie (Jim) Wegner, Omaha NE; Susie (Phil) Leonard, Anoka, MN; Ann (Aaron) Ledet, Lexington, TN; and Patty, Atlantic, IA. She also is survived by 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and her brother, Leroy Rahm, Des Moines.
