Van Wall Announces Purchase Of Horizon Equipment John Deere Dealerships

Van Wall Equipment and the Van Houweling family of Perry have announced the purchase of a local John Deere dealership, Horizon Equipment, from the Puck family. The Horizon Equipment locations in Audubon, Manning, Adair, Avoca, Missouri Valley and Woodbine are now officially operating as Van Wall Equipment. “The Puck family as been privileged to maintain a contract and relationship with John Deere Company, our customers and associates for 94 years,” says Horizon CEO, Nate Puck. “Our family has enjoyed four generations of building partnerships that we hope added value to production agriculture, our customers and communities in western Iowa and surrounding areas. We see this organizational change as an opportunity that can bring new ‘Horizons’ for customers and our associates as the mission to provide beneficial partnerships remains.” Van Wall Equipment President, Don Van Houweling, says their goal is to meet and expand on the long-term track record of customer care and commitment that has been a Puck family benchmark. “We will be dedicated to doing four very important things,” he says, “minimizing producer’s downtime risk, making it easier for them to manage their operations, helping them increase their margins and profitability and giving them a competitive advantage.” Van Wall COO (Chief Operating Officer), Mike Van Houweling, says their strategy is to be family owned with local management that “respects, understands and supports the needs and opportunities of the counties and communities they serve.” The company is proud to support local schools, students and education programs and will expand that focus into west and west central Iowa with their “full ride” $14,000 plus scholarships for future John Deere technicians. Van Wall opened their first dealership in Perry in 1977 and has since grown to be one of the most significant John Deere dealership organizations in the country, spanning five states in the Midwest.
