Long-Time Carroll County Employee Nears Retirement In Early 2021

The Carroll County Board of Supervisors accepted the retirement resignation of a long-time employee with deep regrets at their regular meeting Monday morning. Chair, Rich Ruggles, outlines just a fraction of the duties that have fallen under the employment umbrella for Carl Wilburn over the past 29+ years.

These are in addition to being the IT, GIS and Planning and Zoning Director. Wilburn’s retirement date is set for Jan. 29, but an accumulation of benefits will mean his time on site is coming to a quicker close.

County Auditor, Kourtney Irlbeck expressed her gratitude for all that Wilburn has done for the employees of Carroll County as well as the residents. Gene Meiners also thanked Wilburn for his service and dedication, saying he has been a great employee for Carroll County and that he will be missed. Administrative appointments to fill the vacancies created by Wilburn’s retirement will be made at a meeting after the first of the year.
