Funds Raised By Manning Fire And Rescue’s New Year’s Eve Dinner To Go To Family Who Lost Teenage Son In Accident Last Week

The Manning Fire and Rescue Department is making a change to their annual New Year’s Eve drive-thru fundraiser and will now direct the money raised to support a benefit fund set up for the family of one of their own. Fifteen-year-old Max Sanford, the son of firefighter Brett Sanford and his wife Kasie, died from injuries sustained in a car accident last Thursday near Manning. On Thursday, Dec. 31, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. the firefighters and other emergency personnel will be serving meals for a free-will donation that can be picked up at the Manning Fire Station or delivered throughout the community. The phone lines at 712-655-2021 will open at 1 p.m. to reserve meals for pick up or to line up a delivery. Cash donations will be collected at the fire station at 815 6th St. throughout the New Year’s Eve event. The Manning Fire Department is also asking for donations from local businesses to help cover the cost of food, estimated at $4,500. Contact points for those with question or who would like to donate for the food expense can be found below. For those who will not be able to pick up a meal but would like to make a donation to the Sanford family, details on how to do that can also be found here.
