The Knights played well on the road in the 1st half as they built a lead at the halftime. Brooklyn Gifford had another great shooting night hitting 6-3’s in the game helping Kuemper lead 17-6 after the 1st quarter. Things continued to go well in the 2nd quarter and Kuemper went into the haltime up by 6. They held onto the lead into the 4th quarter before a few late turnovers allowed St Albert to take the lead and hold onto it late. The Knights did have a shot to win or tie it late but it didn’t fall.
Brooklyn Gifford led a balanced attack with 21 points to go with 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Cate Mayhall added 18 points, 7 assists and 6rebounds and Akuet Malek had 15 rebounds and 11 blocks.
The loss drops Kuemper to 1-7 overall and 0-4 in the Hawkeye 10 Conference as they head into the break. They will play Denison Schleswig on January 5th.

Carroll played better against the 11th ranked Blue Jays but fell to 3-5 overall and 1-5 in the Raccoon River Conference. Carroll kept it close in the 1st half down by just 6 at halftime. Bondurant Farrar went with a big lineup in the 2nd half and Carroll doubled down on the post and the Blue Jays were able to knock down 3’s to begin the 2nd half.
Carroll was balanced in scoring with six girls scoring between 6 and 8 points. Camryn Schable, Ella Collison and Gabi Hammer each had 8 points in the loss.
The Tigers return to action on Tuesday, January 5th at Boone.

The Crusaders won their 3rd straight to improve to 4-3 overall and 3-3 in the Rolling Valley Conference with a lot of momentum. The Crusaders came out sharp against the Hawkeyes going up 12-0 in the opening minutes. They did a nice job of sharing the basketball, several times they had an open look around the free throw line but found a cutter heading to the basket for a better shot and made the extra pass. Brynn Bass also knocked down 3 of her 4-3’s in the 1st half. Coon Rapids Bayard led 27-3 after the 1st quarter and then started working on some different defensive looks to get some work on them before the second part of the season gets underway.
They build the lead to 45-3 at half and were able to clear the bench in both the 1st half and 2nd half. The defensive game plan was not to let Haley Koch and Emily McIntosh hurt them as both came in averaging 15 points per game. The Crusaders held them to 6 points combined and all their points came in the 4th quarter.
Brynn Bass finished the night with 20 points and 4 assists while Alaya Betts added 10 points and 4 steals. Breeley Clayburg controlled the game in the paint adding 8 points and 7 rebounds along with passing out 5 assists. Miranda Garcia showed off her nice midrange game with 8 points and 6 rebounds and Jessica Evans added 7 rebounds off the bench.
The Crusaders return to action on Tuesday, January 5th as they travel to Glidden Ralston.

South Central Calhoun returned to form on Tuesday night as they close out the first half of the season 8-1. The Titans were able to use pressure defense to create turnovers and again did a great job getting out in transition and sharing the basketball. They had 16 steals which led to 18 assists on 29 made baskets. The Titans shot 53.7% from the field and knocked down 8 of 19 from three point range. Their lead grew as the game went from up 4 at the end of the 1st quarter to up 10 at half. They blew the game open in the 4th quarter outscoring the Rams 23-10.
They had four girls score in double figures with Riley Batta pacing the team with 20 points, Brielle Korleski added 16 points and 4 steals, Emma Anderson added 10 points and 5 assists and Chloe Judisch finished with 10 points. Kylee Schleisman pitched in with 9 points and 5 steals.
The Titans are off until Tuesday, January 5th when they travel to OA-BCIG.

A heartbreaking loss for East Sac as they head into the break at 2-6 overall and 0-2 in the Twin Lakes Conference. The Raiders fought hard and got a big bucket from Bree Boeckman with forty seconds left as the three tied the game at 42. A free throw would put them up by 1 with 23 seconds left but the Jaguars would score with 15 seconds left and East Sac had a chance to win it at the buzzer but missed a jumper.
The game was tight all the way through as they Raiders started quickly and led 17-9 after the 1st quarter but SE Valley rallied late in the 2nd quarter and the game was tied at half. The Jaguars took a 3 point lead into the 4th quarter.
Maty Quirk paced the offense with 10 points, 8 rebounds along with 5 steals. Bree Boeckman finished with 7 points and 11 rebounds. Carly Fischer added 8 points and 6 rebounds while Mary Bontrager had 8 points.
The Raiders head to Emmetsburg on Friday, January 8th.

The Rockets head into the break 1-7 overall and 1-6 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They struggled some on Tuesday with the pressure of Exira-EHK which slowed them down some and got them out of rhythm. Foul trouble began to add up for the Rockets which forced them to make changes defensively and they had a hard time locating the good shooters for the Spartans. The Rockets were down 21-7 after the 1st quarter but played better in the 2nd quarter only being outscored 19-11.
Bridget Cameron continues to play well inside and finished with 11 rebounds and 7 points. Jadeyn Smith led the way scoring with 11 points to go with 6 rebounds. Maggie Ragaller added 9 points.

Paton Churdan continued to roll in the 1st part of the season going on the road Tuesday and picking up their 7th win of the season. The Rockets sit 7-1 overall and 6-1 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They are a game back in the loss column of both CAM Anita and Exira-EHK heading into the break.
Danielle Hoyle had another big night with 25 points while Tessa Steimel finished with 12 points.
The Rockets will host West Bend Mallard on Tuesday, January 5th.
