A Jackson, Minn. woman was killed in a Calhoun County accident Tuesday afternoon. The Iowa State Patrol responded to the scene on U.S. Highway 4 near 220th Street, north of Rockwell City, at approximately 3:22 p.m. Twenty-eight-year-old Rose Kristine Kallemeyn was northbound in a 2002 Pontiac Bonneville, rounding a curve. Fifty-six-year-old Garry Dennis Hayes, II was also rounding that curve, but southbound, in a 2014 International semi-tractor trailer. Kallemeyn crossed the center line and struck the semi head on. She was ejected from her vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Hayes was uninjured. The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Calhoun County Emergency Medical Services and the Rockwell City and Lytton Fire Departments assisted at the scene.
