U.S. Senator, Joni Ernst, is a combat veteran and chairman of the Senate Armed Services subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities, and she recently announced her nominations to the United States Service Academy. These 31 young Iowans are being nominated for consideration of acceptance at the United States Air Force, Military, Merchant Marine and Naval Academies. “As a company commander who served over 23 years in our nation’s military, and a mother of a West Point cadet, I am honored to nominate these Iowa students for admittance to our U.S. Service Academies,” Ernst says. “Each and every one of these outstanding young leaders has demonstrated tremendous skill and commitment to establishing a career in our military.” The list of candidates for the class of 2025 included EmmaKay McClain of Bayard who has applied for acceptance to the United States Air Force Academy.
