Bayard Woman Jailed After Striking Two Parked Cars, A Fence And A House Late Sunday

A Bayard woman was uninjured but jailed after striking two parked cars, a fence and a house late Sunday. The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene in the 200 block of 3rd Street in Bayard at approximately 11:55 p.m. Upon arrival, they found 25-year-old Ashley Faith Andrews in a 2003 Ford Expedition that had sustained significant front end damage and was parked in a residential yard. An investigation and witness reports revealed that Andrews allegedly exited an alleyway northbound and turned west onto 3rd Street. At this point, she lost control and struck the front of a 2007 Nissan Sentra that was parked on the roadway, causing approximately $4,000 in damage to that vehicle. The impact caused the Sentra to hit the front end of a 2018 Honda Civic, also parked on the roadway, causing about $2,000 in damage. Andrews then turned south, striking and causing substantial damage, estimated at $50,000, to a house at 205 3rd St. Andrews then backed up, striking a fence in the 300 block of 3rd Street, causing about $500 in damage. The deputy reports he smelled alcohol on Andrews’ breath, she slurred her speech heavily and swayed while standing and walking. A half empty open 12-ounce container of alcohol and a 15 pack of beer with five cans missing was also found in the vehicle she was driving. Andrews refused to submit to breath analysis testing for the presence of alcohol and was booked into the Guthrie County jail. She has been charged with failure to maintain control, driving while license denied, suspended, cancelled or revoked, open container and failure to provide proof of financial liability. In addition to the other damages, there was an estimated $10,000 in damage to the Ford Expedition Andrews was driving.
